
With a surface of 5.300 square kilometers, Cantabria offers extremly varied landscapes and climates. In its mountain ranges, Picos de Europa and the natural reserve of Saja, still lives bears, wolves and eagles, and the rivers are full of salmons and trout.
The capital, Santander, is located at a beautiful bay. It is an economically and extremly active city with an important sea port. There is an ample cultural offer; especially remarkable are the Menendez y Pelayo International Summer University and the International Festival. It's great sports facilities become Santander an ideal place for leisure.
At a few kilometres from the capital is situated the medieval town of Santillana del Mar, and the highly interesting prehistorically Caves of Altamira. Some other attractions in the surroundings of Santander, at 50 minutes of Santa Marina's Golf, are other prehistorically caves and in the same way, you can visit the natural park of Cabarceno where you will find animals from the five continents in an outstanding and singular landscape.
To 10 minutes of our course, is Comillas, the village declared joint historical-artistic, is well known with the name of Villa of the Archbishops, since in their municipality was born five prelates who during the Middle Age occupied several dioceses.
It is possible to empathise the magnificient popular architecture and the family large houses withe shields, own of the lignage of the time.
Their paved with stones streets, and their squares, invite to discover each corner of the village, reporting to the visitor a sensation of peace and serenity, with important monuments, that they equip with a set of extraordinary beauty.
"El Capricho" of Gaudi,
declared historical-artistic monument in 1969, is a beautiful building of arabesque style in wich the decorations emphasize their porch with great columns alogn with ceramics of their walls.
The Sobrellano Palace, huge buildind of neogothic style, also called "Marques de Comillas", because it was constructed in the same place where it's house is located , whose architect was the Catalan Juan Martorell. Part of the furniture was designed by Gaudi.
The Pontifical University, impressive building that dominates all the town from the west, is one of the most representative of the villa. The ornamentals details, as well as the cover from access to the enclosure was designed by Domenesh architect.
Very interesting for the visitors, to 90 minutes of our Course, it can visit the prestigious Museum Guggenheim Bilbao, in Bilbao.
Situated in one of the most remarkable natural location on the western coast of Cantabria, to 45 Kms from the capital, Santander, San Vicente de la Barquera is a seaside
village that in 41 square kilometers has all the natural resources of the green Spain: an important old town declared to be of interest cultural in 1987, a high historical importance, an exceptional natural enviroment, a famous gastronomy and an important popular culture that it is reflected in several folkloric manifestations.
Its important fishing port has been in the past, the centre of the economic development of the village and nowadays is one of the most important harbours in Cantabria. The tourism is actually the main economic activity in the village, with a wide and attractive offer to the visitors.
San Vicente de la Barquera is part of the ancient route trodden by piligrims as they made their way to Santiago de Compostela in the coastal route for this remarkable past the village has a marvellous old villag with interesting collection of monuments.
Finally, Cantabria's host country offer colorful popular traditions based on its culture, gastronomy, natural resources and facilities to sports that become to Cantabria in a perfect tourist destination that certainly will not disappoint.
